The 9C sewer and duplication scheme incorporates Tolka Vally Park Pumping Station and involves the installation of an additional duplicate sewer (from Parslickstown Bridge to the Tolka Valley Park), with the provision of a pumping station and underground storage tanks.
The scheme comprises >3km of combined sewer, installed using trenchless techniques and the construction of shafts to facilitate installation of the pipelines. Works also entail;
- Below ground wet-well/dry-well Pumping Station
- Above ground pumping station Building, incorporating MEICA (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation) equipment, ESB substation, sedum roof and associated site works
- Underground Storage Tank(s) with a combined storage capacity of approximately 30,000m³, interconnecting pipework, combined sewer overflow (CSO) to River Tolka.
- Septicity dosing facilities, to mitigate/treat potential build-up of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S).
- Odour Control facilities, including odour control units, granular activated carbon, forced and natural ventilation and vent stacks with integral carbon canisters.
- Diversion of existing 9C sewer (9CS)
- Diversion of existing 300mm diameter asbestos cement watermain
- New vehicular access on to Waterville Distributor Road and access roadway between Waterville Distributor Road and new pumping station.
- Reinforced grass surfacing for future access and maintenance to the storage tanks and pumping station.
