Ward & Burke is committed to playing our part in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of sustainable and resilient infrastructure. As a company, we are focused on climate change risk management and implementation of mitigation and adaptation strategies. We have set the target, aligned with industry best practices, of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2040. This not only involves GHG emission reductions but also an enhanced focus on renewable energy sourcing.
We have aligned our targets and objectives with those of client and industry best practices. We are undertaking research on sustainability for construction at the University of Cambridge with recent publications on subjects including lowering the carbon footprint of utility works by use of microtunnelling. Our adherence to standards including ISO 14090 and ISO 14091 demonstrates our commitment to climate change adaptation and risk assessment. We have commenced the process of independently verifying our climate-related targets with SBTi. In line with PAS2080:2023, our carbon reporting and drive to net zero is an evolving process, with continuous improvement as a key feature.
Ward & Burke implements an Energy Management System accredited to ISO5001.
