Role Description

This is a full-time, permanent contract Environmental Advisor role at Ward & Burke joining our Southern SHEQ team. The job will be for the works we are completing for the Havant Thicket Reservoir project where Ward and Burke Construction Limited have been appointed by Portsmouth Water Limited to design, construct, commission and draw down a new dual pipeline connecting Bedhampton Pumping Station to Havant Thicket Reservoir, including an emergency discharge structure at the Hermitage Stream, culvert upgrades and an Under Track Crossing.

The role includes:

  • Advise and help with the day-to-day tasks related to Environmental management in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Carrying out Environmental audits and inspections
  • Developing and implementing Environmental controls
  • Promote best practice
  • Carrying out incident investigations
  • Advising on and identifying training needs
  • Liaising with our clients and other contractors
  • Monitoring and reporting on Environmental performance
  • Write and review environmental documents such as Construction Environmental Management Plan, Site Waste Management Plan, Pollution Management Plan etc…

 

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in the construction industry in the principal contractor/Designer role is desirable
  • Relevant Environmental qualification as a minimum (Degree or Masters etc…)
  • Member of accredited organisation such as IEMA or similar is desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Hold a full driving license
  • Managing the requirements of the Register of Environmental Actions and Commitments
  • Assisting the delivery team in obtaining and complying with environmental consents
